SPORTS
Sport at Allenby Gardens Primary School (AGPS) is back up and running in full flight. Soccer has begun again with students training at the school on their team’s selected afternoon, and playing at the St Clair ovals on Brocas Avenue. Towards the end of the term, there will be an end-of-season carnival to celebrate the completed North-Western Junior Soccer Association (NWJSA) season held at either Jubilee Reserve or one of the West Lakes venues; more details will be released closer to the date.
Basketball has also re-commenced with training being held at school and games being held at St Clair Recreation Centre. I look forward to hearing how much improvement has been made by each student from them participating in their trainings and games for the remainder of the year. Thanks once again to those who have volunteered to coach a side, and to parents for continuing to get your child/ren to training and games on time.
Seeing the gym being used each day during lunch play has been great! Students during this time have been participating in activities and organised games such as basketball, skipping, volleyball, pop-up, slapball, and gymnastics. A reminder to students who come into the gymnasium to play during lunch times that there are no hoodies to be worn during this time.
Congratulations boys on representing Allenby Gardens at the knock-out boys' soccer carnival. All played extremely well, winning 1 and losing 2 by a goal or two. All 3 games were played extremely well, highlighting their desire to represent Allenby Gardens with pride and enthusiasm. Great effort by everyone and thanks to the parents who transported on the day.
SAPSASA District Basketball Carnival played at St. Claire Recreation Centre. Our boys went UNDEFEATED all day, winning their 3 games in the group stage, the semi-Final against Le Fevre PS 29-20 and then the GRAND FINAL against Challa Gardens 22-12. An amazing feat, an amazing group of players representing our school today. Thanks to Nick Bridgemen for coaching the boys today and Jai O'Toole for coaching the boys last term at the Challa Basketball carnival. Bring on the STATE SAPSASA Basketball finals, the best of the best district schools from across South Australia.
Congratulations on displaying awesome skills and school values throughout the term. Thanks to the parents who transported the children on the day.
There are more SAPSASA events on the agenda this term. The SAPSASA Athletics day is going to be held on Monday 28th August (Week 6) at Henley Athletics Club (Henley Grange Memorial Oval), congratulations to the year 4-6 students who will represent AGPS on this day coming up very soon. If anyone has any questions regarding SAPSASA, please contact either George Koufalas or Simon Krieg.
